Art Programs

Northern Youth Project’s art programming focuses on building self-confidence for our youth ages 5-21 and creating opportunities for peer to peer leadership. Art, writing, and other creative projects—from traditional techniques to contemporary practices—offer youth an opportunity to explore their world while connecting to diverse cultural resources and the community’s wealth of talent and knowledge.
Local and visiting artists, and mentors, teach workshops in an expansive range of disciplines, including photography, poetry, drawing, mural painting, pottery, graffiti, printing and recycled art. A mural wall located at the Northern Youth Project garden is always available for our young ones to express themselves freely.
NYP offers paid art internships, striving to link creativity to community engagement and build connections within our regional networks. Our art and leadership interns come together during monthly Future Leaders of Our World (F.L.O.W) meetings with staff to identify areas of interest that matter to them. NYP works to ensure that their interests are met with art programming that empowers a sense of self and encourages them to take a stand in their community.
